Competition is coming from everywhere

Rick:
An interesting idea with some challenges.
The USPS delivers 6 days per week and is considering dropping that down to 5 days per week. Will the newspaper companies be willing to pay postal rates? Newspaper companies often have delays in production that affect delivery. Of course, the notion of what is news and how timely must it be to remain relevant to the recipient also comes into play.
I’m sure that there are many more issues, but the bottom line is…If they do nothing they die. They need to think differently about their business and worry less about what they already have in place. We know that doesn’t work. Just seemed like they could share the cost of the distribution channel, which is significant for both of them. Compromises will have to be made on all sides…But, do they really have any other choice?
